Transforming Oncology Markets and Evolving a Career: Anna Shen’s Story

Anna Shen is a prime example of the diverse career paths and growth opportunities available throughout BMS globally. Based out of Shanghai, China, Anna is currently an Immuno-Oncology Gastric Cancer Marketing Lead, but the journey from her undergrad and graduate degrees in the UK to exactly what her current role entails, is both eye-opening and fascinating for anyone interested in the sciences. “I graduated with an MS in Pharmacology from Oxford University,” she explained. At that point, Anna found herself at a crossroads, albeit a good one from her perspective. “I had the option of going back to academia for a PhD, or going out into the working world,” she

Battling Cancer Around the Clock with Cell Therapy and Amelia Gutierrez

Amelia Gutierrez Perez was just 14 when she knew what she wanted to do for a living–work in bioscience and battle cancer. She had just lost her best friend to the disease, and the passing of her friend sparked a fire inside her that still burns to this day. Now, as a Scientist in BMS’ Quality Control Analytical Testing Group, Amelia works with CAR T technology to help fight cancer on a molecular level. “BMS is leading the way in CAR T cell therapy,” Amelia explains. “It’s an amazing process, because you are using the patient’s own cells. Yes, you can actually manufacture a cancer therapy based on a patient’s

The Rise of Jennifer Jones, BMS Leader & CLIMBer

Jennifer Jones was working in an IT analytics role for a real estate franchise when a former colleague told her about a career opportunity with Bristol Myers Squibb. The Sunshine Act transparency requirements were just starting to ramp up in the U.S., and her experience with systems, processes and analysis seemed to be a perfect fit for building out the required operational changes. BMS’ culture of inclusion, she’d discover, also felt like something she wanted to be a part of. So, she took a risk. She left her full-time job to take a three-month contract position—and 10 years later, she’s still here and thriving. Building new systems. Growing a new

How Tomas Quiceno Forged His Own Career Path at BMS

At Bristol Myers Squibb, we believe in putting people at the center of everything we do, which means helping our people pursue their career aspirations and fulfill their potential. Our own Tomas Quiceno did just that, moving from a role in IT to a position on our worldwide commercial team. “Personally, I’m open to anything,” he explains. “I like to understand the business from a different side, so I wanted to move to a different area.” He adds: “If you want to move to a different area, they will lay the path for you. It’s up to you to follow that path,” he says. “There’s a huge amount of opportunity.”

How Carla Daily Unlocked Her Career ‘Superpowers’ at BMS

At Bristol Myers Squibb, we believe that bringing innovative medicines to patients requires a workforce with diverse experiences, perspectives, and personal backgrounds. Our People and Business Resource Groups (PBRGs) reflect these values and offer our workforce proactive opportunities to shape a culture of inclusion. PBRGs are an integral part of the BMS culture. They empower employees, drive vital change within the company, and bring us closer to meeting the needs of patients. They also provide opportunities for employees to find mentors and explore their career aspirations. Perhaps no one knows this better than Carla Daily, a current member of all eight PBRGs. She blossomed under the mentorship of PBRG co-chairs
